Here at Oz Catz, we take a great deal of care with all our kittens.    We usually have kittens available most of the year - many are sold before they are born - click here for the link to The Kitten Waiting List.

ABOUT OUR KITTENS

General health - all our kittens are fully vet checked before going to new homes

Temperament - we guarantee our kittens are well-socialised and have excellent temperaments.  All our kittens are house-reared.

Kitten's Parentage -  all our kittens are bred from pedigreed cats registered with the Governing Council of the Cat Fancy, Victoria & Australia (GCCFV).

Ocicat generations - all our Ocicat kittens are fully pedigreed Ocicat kittens.    The rare exceptions to this will be when the kitten is part of the "Oz Catz Supplementary Breeding Program", in which case, the kitten will be clearly identifiable by its title - for instance, OZSPOTS MARY (Gen 3).  The postscript, Gen 3, identifies this kitten as a third generation Ocicat.  The reason is that as Ocicats are a relatively new breed and the gene pool is small world-wide, established breeders may obtain special permission from their registration body (in our case, the GCCFV) to breed Ocicats back to pedigreed Abyssinians, one of the foundation cats of the Ocicat breed.  In this way, we can widen the gene pool and maintain the health, strength and vitality of the Ocicat breed.  Kittens which are Gen 2 or Gen 3 Ocicats are not different by sight to a full generation Ocicat (that is a Gen 4 or more) and possess all the personality, character and temperament of the regular Ocicat.

Kitten's Pedigree - we provide a copy of the new kitten's pedigree covering 4 generations of its ancestors.

Registration of Kitten Pedigree - new kittens may be registered with the GCCFV if the new owner requests this and a registered pedigree in the new owner's name will be provided.

Desexing kittens  - all our kittens are desexed prior to going to new homes.    Our kittens are desexed at 9 to 10 weeks of age - click here for the link to information about early desexing of kittens

Written Health Guarantee - we provide a written health guarantee with every kitten we sell.  Our kittens are big, healthy and strong before leaving us.  We guarantee our kittens are healthy when they leave us and they are also guaranteed against life-threatening congenital defects for a period of six months from their birth - click here for the link to The Oz Catz health guarantee

Vaccinations - our kittens receive at least their first kitten vaccination at 9 to 10 weeks old.  Kitten usually require a course of Fevac F3 vaccinations, at 9-10 weeks, at 13-14 weeks and at 17-18 weeks old after which they require boosters yearly for life.  If kittens are travelling overseas, we ensure the kittens have the correct vaccinations (either Fevac F3 or Fevac F4) depending on their destination, as well as rabies vaccinations if required.

Worming - They need worming every month until 6 months old, then every 3 months for life.  For kittens destined for overseas, we follow the requirements for the destination country.
Flea - we do not flea our kittens and we guarantee they do not have fleas when they leave us.   Once the kitten is 12 weeks of age, it needs flea treatment regularly in conjunction with the worming treatment - the frequency of this depends on the product used.
