ABOUT OCICATS - OZ CATZ COLOURS - IVORY

An explanation about Ivory kittens in an Ocicat litter -

Every now and then an Ocicat breeder may find one or more of these beautiful kittens in a litter.  The ivory kittens are born white with 'ghost' spotting in fawn on its body.  It is the result of the Siamese gene that was instrumental in the development of the Ocicat from the very beginning of the breed.  The ivory will develop colour on the face, ears, legs and tail much as a Siamese kitten does.

The spotting on its body will become more pronounced as it matures.  The ivory kitten has blue eyes which are retained into adulthood, just like the Siamese.  They are not registerable as Ocicats as they have blue eyes (Ocicats should have either gold or green eyes) and their spots are softer than the regular Ocicat.  Their noses and paw-pads are pink.

In the USA they are highly prized as a very rare and strikingly beautiful cat.

They are often a little larger than the spotted Ocicat and seem to be stronger and if possible, even more robust than the spotted Ocicat.

We know it has been a long time but mum’s camera has been broken nearly all year now and she has been too hopeless to get it fixed and send you some photos of how pretty I turned out but we finally got a couple of me and my big sister Paulie Walnuts.
I am very happy here although Paulie and I sometimes fight but she is just set in her ways and sometimes needs a bit of a shakeup which I am more than happy to give.

Mum and Dad have built an enclosure in the little back yard so I am allowed out in the garden to play - which I do and I love hiding and leaping out at anything .... particularly bugs that fly too close to my nose.

I am a very fast hunter these days and mum is very proud of me when I catch lizards from the backyard and bring them inside.  I like to play with them but she usually takes them off me and puts them back outside in the little garden.  That’s ok, I am so fast that I will catch them again later.
They named me Kwai when I arrived home but I also get called a multitude of other names like: Cherry Blossom, Waffle Biscuit, Squinky, Lemon Jelly, White mouse, Biffin and Butters, but that is Dad, (I think he is just a bit old and forgets my name sometimes so I don’t mind, plus he gives me lots of cuddles and tickles my ears).
I have been to the vet a few times but nothing bad just check ups and shots.  You will be proud to know I was very well behaved and ALL of the vets and nurses fell in love with me and said how cute I was.  I showed off a little but I think they liked it because everyone laughed and patted me.
I still love cuddles very much and I like to know EXACTLY what is going on.  I have helped wrap all the Christmas presents for my first Christmas and I think that curly ribbon is just WONDERUL.  Mum was very happy with my added touches, although at the time she seemed to be getting a bit frustrated,  I think that she was just a bit tired from all the shopping though.

.

Anyway, I really just wanted you to know that for my first Christmas I am very happy and healthy and am still on at mum to fix the camera so some REALLY nice photos can be taken to show you how pretty and bright eyed I am.
I hope you have a wonderful Christmas filled with lots of love and purrs
Love from
Kwai (or Butters, Biffin etc)
All the best also from Kellie and Matt the very proud owners of a beautiful and very loving, friendly and delightfully crazy Ocicat.

Nola,

I thought you might be interested to see a photo I took this  morning.
We renamed Amber as Ginger, as Koko and Ginger seem to fit nicely together.    (Koko is a chocolate Burmese boy from Crystal and Harry)
Ginger has developed quite prominent spots on her sides and is the real Miss Personality.  I call her the Princess.

She talks all the time, whereas Koko is just content to let things  happen, and hardly ever says a word.
Regards,   Peter

Nola, I thought you might like a current photo of a relaxed Koko and  Ginger, now that their first birthday has passed.

Nola, as you can see, all is well in the land of cats!  Regards, Peter

  OZSPOTS CAILEN

He is such a sweetheart. He is the happiest when someone is paying attention to him.

Not afraid of small
kids, nor loud noises nor the unknown.

He is adorable

January 19, 2006

Cailean is still getting darker ..  but the spots are not really coming out more

He has gotten darker and darker. Most people can see his spots now but they have not developed on the front. Still adorable as ever and we love watching him catch a flie. He makes the funniest noises ever! Well you know the sound anyway :-)    Melanie and Denis

I finally got a photo where you can see Caileans spots a little bit better. somehow they always dissapear on the photo's, but not this time!
I saw that this time there was only 1 ivory  -  I love mine and I am sure that others will fall in love with the little white ones as much as I have :-)

Here is a picture of the two new additions to my family.  Both are happy, healthy and putting on weight (too much, actually!).  They look like little angels - but don't be deceived.

Happy Easter, Patty.
