Who is Oz Catz?
Oz Catz is a registered member of GCCFV (Member No. 1768). We are located in country Victoria, Australia and our
Ocicat kittens travel to all states of Australia, as well as to many international destinations.
Oz Catz is the biggest and most active Ocicat
breeder in the Southern Hemisphere, importing many new Ocicat blood lines into Australia to keep the breed strong
and healthy.
Our breeding goals :
To raise Ocicat kittens that are -
stunningly beautiful
in perfect health
socially and emotionally ready for their
new lives with their new families
will take love, affection, joy and
enchantment with them from Oz Catz
We also aim to spread the word about these
wonderful companion cats to as wide an audience as possible and demonstrate that our Ocicat kittens are
beautiful, strong and healthy with wonderful personalities and temperaments.
Our achievements :
Written Health
Guarantees -
we were the first Ocicat breeder to
introduce written health guarantees for our kittens - many breeders have now followed our example and copied
our guarantee!
Gold Champion
Status -
we were the first Ocicat breeder in
Australia to achieve Gold Champion status with Ocicats - we now claim 3 Gold Champions in our stud cats. And
one of our female Ocicats, owned by fellow Ocicat breeder, Amanda of Zayenah Ocicats in South Australia, has
also titled to Gold Champion - the first female Ocicat in Australia to do so.
Ocicats on
Television -
we are the only Ocicat breeder in
Australia to successfully promote our Ocicats in several prime-time television shows - videos of these shows
can be seen at Ocicats in the News.
Vogue Australia
magazine -
we are the only Ocicat breeder to have our
Ocicats appear in Australian Vogue magazines
European Show
Success -
several of our Ocicats that have been
exported to European breeders, have achieved excellent distinctions on the show circuits
Imported Many Ocicats into
Australia -
when we first began breeding Ocicats, we
found a general lassitude and lack of enthusiasm in Ocicat breeders in Australia at that time. It was
immediately apparent that the lack of new Ocicat blood lines had to lead to in-breeding and eventually, the
end of Ocicats here. Thus Oz Catz embarked on a drive to import many new Ocicats into Australia - to date,
we have imported 10 Ocicat breeding cats - no other Ocicat breeder can claim to have
done as much for the breed in Australia as we have done at Oz
Catz.

The Face
of Oz Catz
My name is Nola. I have been breeding cats for
about 11 years now, firstly Burmese, then for the past 8 years or so, I have been involved with breeding the
beautiful Ocicat - my absolute passion! I work full time to raise my kittens to achieve these goals - I don't
have full time employment elsewhere - I am not a part-time hobby breeder - I don't expect my cats and kittens to
raise themselves whilst I am at the office. My Ocicat kittens are raised in my home (chaos at times!!), but they
get quite used to the sound of the television, clattering dishes, toilets flushing, phones ringing,
etc.
My life is dedicated to raising the best
Ocicat kittens you will find - certainly in Australia - and better than many Ocicats found in other parts of the
world.
My background is professional - I have a
Commerce Degree from Melbourne University - and have worked in various establishments in superannuation, common
funds management, investment management, trustee funds management, etc.
I bring my professionalism to my Ocicat
breeding - I maintain detailed records for all my cats and kittens relating to their health, vaccinations,
wormings, matings, litters, etc. I provide proper invoices/receipts to my kitten buyers as well as other pertinent
documentation.
I also share the results of my research into
cat diets, early desexing, etc with all who have an interest - you will find much of this information on the web
site.
But that is where the business-side of me
ends. My love for my Ocicats and their kittens over-rides all. I spend most of my time with my cats and
kittens.
I am often asked how I can stand to have my
kittens leave me because I get so close to them and yes, it's often very difficult - but it's a bit like being a
neo-natal nurse - once my babes are ready to take their place with their new families, my task is done and I have
to say good-bye.
I can only love them and nurture them as much
as I can whilst they are with me.
That's why it's especially lovely to hear news
of my beautiful spotted Ocicat kittens and see their pictures as they grow into adults, which is why I dedicate so
many web pages to my kittens as they have grown up with their new families.
All my kittens are raised with my dog,
Georgia, pictured above with chocolate spotted Penelope, Dorothy, and Hunter. Hunter left me a week after this
photograph was taken to go to his new parents, but sadly was killed on the road shortly afterwards when he was
allowed to go outside unattended.
I sit with each of my girls as they
proceed through their labour to ensure they remain relaxed and comforted and that their kittens receive
immediate attention should it be necessary.
I am a hands-on Ocicat breeder - to ensure my
cats and kittens are as well socialised, confident and happy little individuals as I can possibly help them to
be.
