2004
- We started our Ocicat breeding program in
2004 with - Ocivalley Lai (Delilah) and Ocivalley Dian (Dorothy) - both chocolate spotted girls.
Prior to Oz Catz becoming involved in breeding Ocicats in
Australia, little had been done to provide Australia with an adequate Ocicat breeding base. So, it became my
first priority to import good quality breeding Ocicats into Australia.
L : Delilah ... R : Dorothy
2005 - After many months of searching, I found a breeder in England - Christine Hughes of
Merrydancercats - who was willing to allow me to adopt two of her very well pedigreed
kittens. I imported Merrydancer Cocolatino (Imp UK) and his sister,
Merrydancer Molly (Imp UK). Coco is a chocolate spotted silver stud and Molly a chocolate spotted
queen. Coco and Molly finally arrived in Australia in November, 2005
and gave me a start to achieving the diversity in breeding lines that I needed to allow me to breed future
generations of strong uncompromised Ocicats.

L : Coco ... R : Molly
2006 - Although this was a 'shot in the arm', this was not enough to ensure the health and strength
of the Ocicat breed into the future in Australia - I couldn't rest there! In July, 2006, I introduced another
Ocicat boy from New Zealand - Abyrose Kiwi Magic (Imp NZ). This
black spotted silver Ocicat boy became affectionately known as "Kiwi Fruit" and was from New Zealand Ocicat
breeder, Jody of Abyrose.

2006 - In 2006, I introduced my first Supplementary Breeding Queen into my breeding
program. GCCFV permits experienced breeders to enrol in their
Supplementary Breeding Program which monitors out-cross breeding in certain breeds. Ocicats, as a relatively new breed, are permitted to be out-crossed to one of its foundation
breeds, the Abyssinian, in an effort to strengthen the gene-pool. Oz
Catza was granted this permission - consequentyly, I imported a 1st Generation Ocicat from New ZeaLAND -
Rubichi Wild Choc Bits (Gen 1) (Imp NZ).

2007 - Then, another import in March, 2007 - a superb black spotted silver Ocicat girl, Sharic Lady
Cheetah (Imkp NZ) who was bred by New Zealand breeder, Karen Earl of Sharic Cattery. Cheetah was an absolute stunner with gorgeous bronze coloured tiger
eyes!!!

2007 - Again in September, 2007, another charmer from Jody of Abyrose, New Zealand, a tawny spotted
Ocicat queen - Abyrose Marama (Imp NZ).

2008 - Then in September, 2008 another Generation 1 Ocicat queen from Gail Warwick of Kemenkat in
New Zealand - Kemenkat Passion's Fruit (Gen 1) (Imkp NZ). The
inclusion of these Ocicat queens and studs to my Australian breeding lines gives great impetus to the
establishment of a quality Ocicat breeding program for Australia. But I haven't rested
there!

2009
- In 2009, a chocolate spotted Ocicat stud
carrying two new Ocicat breeding lines was imported from Bertie Ottens of the Cattery Van Diem in Holland -
Peikkolan Frodo Reppuli (Imp NL). Frodo is a wonderful addition to Oz Catz.

But, still I don't rest in my persuit of
first-class Ocicat breeder status! I continue to closely monitor my breeding program, only mating Ocicat queens and
studs that will produce the lowest inbreeding co-efficient possible to ensure the very best of health and genetic
strength in my Ocicat kittens. And I continue to negotiate with several
European and American breeders for 'kitten swap deals' and/or purchase opportunities to further strengthen
Australia's Ocicat gene pool.
2010 - A lilac spotted Ocicat queen from Europe arrived in Australia in October, 2010 - Daywalker
Haven Jace (Imp Germany). This little lady will further boost the
strength and vitality of the Australian Ocicat gene-pool bringing with her two new Ocicat
blood-lines.

2011 - In November, 2011, a fabulous blue spotted breeding girl - Daywalker Lozen (Imp Germany)
- arrived in Australia from Germany.
